Great pho! Setting yourself on fire is the best protest move of all time, Buddhist monks did this in protest of governmental anti-Buddhist policies in Vietnam. The only problem is you can only pull this move once, so whatever you're protesting, it better be damn egregious. So imagine how terrible the food would have to be to prompt me to seriously consider setting myself on fire in protest of the poor tasting and expensive Chinese food. I arrived in the Golden China in an attempt to try something new while visiting Nome. I usually go to the Twin Dragon, but I had per diem today, I was living a little. I arrive at 1pm, and look at the menu, the creator of General Tso had died that day, so I looked at the waitress and said "one plate of General Tso's Chicken please." the waitress looked at me and said "no, that only for dinner." So I glanced back at the menu, "okay, one order of Orange Chicken please." the waitress looked at me and said "no, that only for dinner." My options narrowed, I went for the 3rd choice, "Sweet and Sour chicken I guess." After a short period, I got my meal, I mixed the sweet and sour sauce with the chicken and took a giant bite. If you've ever chomped on an under-cooked rubber ball, you will then know what it was like to eat this meal. The chicken was rubbery as all hell, the sweet and sour sauce that adorned the chicken tasted more like a mix of ketchup and water. The worst part was the whole meal had cost around $25 and I had only received a tiny portion. About half way through the meal, I couldn't eat this meal any more, I looked up, disgusted at my choice of meal and then the thought came into my head, "Well, I could set myself on fire." I paid for my meal, and hurried down to the local gas station, gas was going for $4.00 a gallon, I looked at my per diem, only $2.00 left, not nearly enough to do a proper burning myself protest. So i resolved to never eat at this restaurant again. Best place in town!! Yummy food. Sesame chicken was one of their specials and it was 1299 it was hot it was delicious the staff was friendly
